Vinyl plank is one of the most popular flooring choices because it is durable, easy to maintain, and available in realistic wood looks.
Best areas for vinyl plank:
- Areas that may get wet
- Kitchens
- Basements
- Entryways
- Main living areas
- Pet friendly spaces
- Busy household areas
Why Customers Choose Vinyl Plank:
- Waterproof options available
WPC vs. SPC Vinyl Plank
Vinyl plank products are not all built the same. Two common core types are WPC and SPC.
SPC stands for stone-plastic composite. SPC vinyl plank has a denser, more rigid core. It can be a strong option, but because it is more rigid, proper subfloor preparation is very important. The subfloor does not need to be perfect, but it does need to be properly prepared, clean, and flat enough for the product being installed.
Laminate
Laminate is a strong choice for customers who want a realistic wood look with excellent scratch resistance and value.
Best Areas for Laminate
- Livings rooms
- Bedrooms
- Hallways
- Offices
- Dining rooms
- Busy household spaces
Modern laminate is much more advanced than older laminate flooring. One of its biggest strengths is scratch resistance. Laminate wear layers are commonly very hard and can be more scratch-resistant than many vinyl plank products.
Waterproof laminate options are also available, making laminate a strong choice for customers who want a wood-look floor with strong surface durability.
Laminate is not the same as vinyl plank. Vinyl plank is typically fully synthetic and waterproof. Laminate is a wood-based product with a durable surface layer, so choosing the right product and installing it correctly is important.
Engineered Wood
Sawyer’s Flooring carries engineered hardwood, not solid hardwood.
Best Areas For Engineered Hardwood:
- Living rooms
- Dining rooms
- Bedrooms
- Offices
- Main living areas
Engineered hardwood is still real wood, so it is not waterproof. It should be protected from standing water, excessive moisture, and poor climate control.
Stairs, Runners, and Custom Rugs
Stairs need flooring that is safe, durable, and attractive. Most customers choose carpet on stairs because it adds comfort and slip resistance for people and pets.
If you like the hardwood look, another strong option is hardwood with a stair runner. This gives you the look of wood with added softness, traction, and style down the center of the stairs.
Good stair options include:
- Carpet
- Stair runners
- Engineered hardwood with a runner
- Certain hard surface products, depending on the project
- Finished basements
- Home offices
Custom rugs and carpet binding are also available for customers who want a specific size, pattern, or finished look.
